Quinoa (pronounced “keen-wah”) is the seed of a plant called Chenopodium quinoa, native to the Andes Mountains and related to beets, chard and spinach.
Though technically a seed, quinoa is classified as a whole grain, also referred to as “super grain” for its incredible nutrition base.

Preparation:
Add 1 cup quinoa to 2 cups water in a pot, and bring to a boil on high heat. When a rolling boil is reached, reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15 minutes or until tender.
For easier cooking, prepare quinoa as you would prepare rice in a rice cooker, with same 1:2 ratio.
Optional: You may cook quinoa in water, stock, or milk; add herbs or spices during cooking; use as substitute for rice in stir-fry or casseroles; or substitute for pasta in salads.
STORAGE: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
